**Job Summary**:
St. John’s University is a Catholic, Vincentian, metropolitan, global, and anti-racist institution. The Residence Director (RD) of the Rome campus, who serves as the primary live-in administrator on campus, is central to these efforts.

The RD manages the Residence Hall and provides day-to-day support to students while they are studying in Rome and residing on campus. The RD reports to the Director of Rome Programs and supervises 3-4 part-time Resident Assistants.

**Essential Functions**:
**PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & STUDENT LIFE**
- Provide day to day support for the Residence Hall Community.
- Facilitate the arrival and departure of St. John’s student groups including airport pick-up and drop-off.
- Work with Student Life Coordinator to conduct an orientation for all incoming residents that familiarizes them with Residence policies and helps them adjust to life abroad.
- Coordinate summer bed rental clients, including check-in, check-out, arrivals, departures, orientations and classroom scheduling.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to manage the operations of the residence and facilities of the Rome Campus to ensure a safe, well-maintained student environment.
- Oversee preparations of Residence for student arrival, including coordination with Rome Administration facilities staff and cleaning service.
- Plan and deliver the Cultural Mentorship Program to students in Rome, in coordination with the Coordinator of Academics and Program Development.
- Maintain regular office hours to be available for students’ questions and assistance.
- Attend occasional evening and weekend events or trips as assigned by Director of Rome Programs

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**
- Administer University and residence hall policies and coordinate with Public Safety as needed.
- Work to ensure the health, safety and general welfare of all students on St. John's Rome program in keeping with protocols and guidelines established by St. John's.
- Serve as primary resource for student health and safety on campus, dealing with crises and emergencies as they arise. Coordinate response to such emergencies as needed, in a manner consistent with St. John's emergency response protocols.
- Serve as primary contact for students for any mediation or conflict resolution issues, particularly as they relate to housing and health issues.
- Establish and maintain communication with students living in the residence hall through individual outreach and community meetings.

**ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS**
- Manage administrative reports and forms (e.g. health and safety forms) and submit them to NY and Rome administrators as needed.
- Amend Residence Director and Resident Assistant manuals to reflect needs, policies and procedures specific to the Rome Campus and update as needed.
- Update Rome Campus Guide as necessary in conjunction with Student Life Coordinator.
- Manage room assignments, and distribution and collection of e-keys. Coordinate with IT to input e-key information into database.
- Manage graduate students dorm and health insurance billing.
- Track and manage incident reports and incident report inputs for global locations.
- Track and manage residence life violations
- Track and manage fines and charge fines to students’ accounts in Banner
- Participate in daily administrative activities in coordination with Rome colleagues to support the smooth functioning of Rome programs.
