Position Overview

St. John's University, a distinguished institution with a commitment to academic excellence and diversity, is seeking a dedicated Coordinator of Academics and Program Development for its Rome campus. This role is pivotal in ensuring that students experience a supportive and enriching educational environment while studying abroad.

Key Responsibilities

The Coordinator will oversee various aspects of short-term academic programs, focusing on:

  • Designing tailored itineraries for short-term and semester-long academic offerings.
  • Managing logistics for winter and summer intersession programs, including class schedules, guest lectures, and student orientations.
  • Administering budgets for short-term programs and collaborating with the Director of Rome Programs on new academic initiatives.
  • Establishing partnerships with local organizations to create viable internship opportunities for students.
  • Supporting student life initiatives by coordinating events and excursions.
  • Facilitating the Cultural Mentoring Program in collaboration with the Residence Director.
  • Coordinating accommodations and transportation for visiting faculty from New York.

Student Affairs Management

The Coordinator will also play a crucial role in student affairs by:

  • Ensuring the health and safety of all students participating in the program.
  • Managing incident reports and maintaining compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Tracking student attendance and enforcing participation requirements.
  • Providing emergency response support as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Administrative Duties

In addition to program management, the Coordinator will:

  • Handle administrative tasks related to mailing and shipping.
  • Participate in daily operations to support the Rome campus programs.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by university leadership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in higher education or study abroad programs.
  • Fluency in both Italian and English.

Work Environment

This full-time position operates within a professional office setting, requiring standard office equipment usage. Occasional travel within Italy and to other campuses may be necessary.
