Position Overview
Franke is embarking on the establishment of a digitalization framework across its primary manufacturing facilities, utilizing an OpenShift containerized factory edge solution architecture. This initiative encompasses a Digital Production System (DPS) aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Focus Areas
The role of the Junior Digitalization Engineer (JDE) within the Franke Center of Competence (CoC) is pivotal in overseeing and facilitating the daily operations of the DPS. This includes responsibilities related to infrastructure, application management, and maintenance. The JDE will work in close collaboration with both local and global IT teams, leveraging digitalization expertise to sustain and enhance interconnected manufacturing processes. This role is crucial for enabling Franke's production capabilities to achieve improved efficiency, flexibility, and market competitiveness.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure and Production Maintenance: Act as the primary contact for local production teams to address unidentified production challenges. Identify and resolve issues, such as resetting fields in OPC UA, and coordinate with relevant suppliers for follow-up.
- Application Management: Assist in configuring new dashboards and integrating new data models and sources based on user requests.
- Communication Infrastructure: Design and maintain a robust communication framework to support manufacturing operations effectively.
Key Skills Required
Candidates should possess strong problem-solving abilities, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the capability to integrate various hardware and software components, including PLCs, HMIs, MOM, and ERP systems. Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Profinet, VLANs) and industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, MQTT, Ethernet/IP) is essential.
Additional Skills
Familiarity with data analytics tools, monitoring and logging solutions, IoT technologies, and cloud computing platforms will be advantageous. Understanding CI/CD practices and tools, as well as version control systems like Git, is also beneficial.
Educational Background
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.
