About the Project:

In this innovative endeavor, we are leveraging artificial neural networks and evolutionary reinforcement learning to enhance the growth of two-dimensional homo/heterostructures with exceptional accuracy. Our objective is to refine the growth process to target specific crystal phases, thereby unlocking new avenues in materials science. By integrating cutting-edge AI methodologies with materials synthesis, we are advancing the control and predictability in the engineering of 2D materials, which will facilitate novel applications in electronics, photonics, and more.

Your Role:

You will collaborate within a diverse and multidisciplinary team, consisting of physicists, chemists, surface scientists, electrical and biomedical engineers, each contributing their expertise to achieve shared research goals in close cooperation with industrial partners.

The mission of our 2D Materials Engineering team is to synthesize, investigate, and customize two-dimensional materials and their heterostructures to enable the next generation of photonic, electronic, biomedical, and quantum devices. We cover the entire spectrum from designing novel materials with unprecedented electronic, optical, and magnetic properties to their practical implementation in real-world applications and industrial production.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the artificial intelligence development team to ensure the effective implementation of neural networks for targeted growth objectives.
  • Conduct chemical vapor deposition growth of selected 2D materials, following established experimental protocols and safety standards.
  • Prepare samples, including cleaning and fabrication in a cleanroom environment, to ensure high quality and consistency.
  • Characterize samples using techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Raman spectroscopy to evaluate material properties.
  • Analyze data to derive significant insights from experimental results.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related fields is required.
  • Demonstrated strong experimental skills.
  • A solid publication record.
  • Ability to effectively report, organize, and publish research findings.
  • Creativity and a strong enthusiasm for research are essential.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the growth of 2D materials is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with artificial neural networks and machine learning.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach.
