Project Overview:

We are excited to announce a postdoctoral position within the project titled "Future Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR)". This initiative aims to leverage cutting-edge artificial intelligence methodologies to enhance the growth processes of two-dimensional materials, focusing on achieving specific crystal phases for innovative applications in various fields.

Position Details:

This is a postdoctoral role based in Pisa, Italy, where you will engage in pioneering research at the intersection of materials science and artificial intelligence.

About the Project:

The FAIR project is dedicated to utilizing artificial neural networks and evolutionary reinforcement learning to optimize the synthesis of 2D homo/heterostructures. Our objective is to refine the growth techniques to enable precise control over material properties, thus unlocking new potential in electronics, photonics, and other advanced technologies.

Your Role:

As part of a diverse and dynamic team comprising physicists, chemists, and engineers, you will contribute to groundbreaking research in 2D materials. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the AI development team to implement neural networks for targeted growth objectives.
  • Conducting chemical vapor deposition for selected 2D materials while adhering to established protocols.
  • Preparing samples in a cleanroom setting, ensuring high quality and consistency.
  • Characterizing materials using techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Raman spectroscopy.
  • Analyzing experimental data to derive significant insights.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experimental skills and a strong publication record.
  • Ability to effectively document and communicate research findings.
  • Creativity and a genuine passion for research.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the growth of 2D materials.
  • Familiarity with artificial neural networks and machine learning techniques.
  • Cleanroom experience.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
  • Motivation to learn and innovate in a collaborative environment.
