We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our team in Milan. As a key member of our Sustainability Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our business teams and ensuring that all IKEA requirements related to sustainability are met by our business partners in Supply Area South.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute IWAY verification, implementation, and support activities in accordance with IWAY Working Methods and relevant mandatory documents.
- Perform initial sustainability compliance assessments for new suppliers and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of non-compliance and work with suppliers to achieve compliance.
- Collect and analyze data to draw conclusions about compliance/non-compliance, using auditing methods and in-depth interviews.
- Secure timely and accurate verification information in planning and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with business teams to set priorities and goals for sustainability actions and projects.
- Collect, verify, and report sustainability data and provide analysis to support business decisions.
- Facilitate sustainability-related trainings for business teams and suppliers.
- Plan and execute sustainability projects in the region and on country level.
- University degree in sustainability or a related field (environmental, chemical, or industrial engineering).
- Good knowledge and understanding of sustainability-related global and local trends and their impacts on the business.
- Understanding of different industrial setups, market-specific conditions, and macro-economic conditions.
- Knowledge of management systems (ISO 14001, SA8000, OHSAS) and energy management systems (ISO 50001).
- Understanding of IWAY, IKEA Code of Conduct, and verification skills.
- Good knowledge of project management tools and methodology.
- Fluency in English, Italian, and Spanish (spoken and written) is a must, with Portuguese or French being a plus.
- High integrity and strong analytical skills.
- Active driver with a valid driving license.
