About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Project Development Manager to join our team in Milan, Italy. As a key member of our Green H2 & Derivatives Competence Center, you will play a crucial role in the development of our green hydrogen and derived e-Fuels projects in the Italian market.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design work and all project engineering activities of our local projects, from early development stage through to Detailed Engineering design. You will ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation, liaise with our Engineering Team, and interact with multiple stakeholders, including business and project developers, project execution managers, and engineering contractors.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Execution of technical system design and optimisation, feasibility and Pre-FEED studies, including related ad-hoc techno-economic assessments.
  2. Coordination and supervision of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities, including designated technology licensors and engineering contractors, while providing technical guidance on optimising the overall project value chain.
  3. Sourcing, selection, and contracting of local leading engineering contractors as needed.
  4. Track and gain expertise on state-of-the-art technical developments in the industry, including relevant targets, legislation, technical standards, and applications in the Italian market, providing technical recommendations for Power-to-X applicable solutions along the value chain, such as:
    • Feedstock Supply
    • Production and Processing
    • Storage and Compression
    • Transport and Distribution
    • Applications
  5. Provision of technical assistance during the construction phase, supporting the Project Execution Team in all project engineering activities.
  6. Provision of technical support to local business and project development teams, acting as a bridge between the local teams and the Green H2 & Derivatives Competence Center in Portugal.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering and design of large-scale industrial projects, such as oil & gas, chemical, or petrochemical industries, with hands-on experience from feasibility assessment to DE design; execution of pre-engineering design studies of green hydrogen production plants in particular.
  2. Broad understanding and knowledge of key engineering codes and standards, along with Italian engineering and technical requirements applicable to industrial gases and fuels production, storage, and logistics.
  3. Knowledge of process engineering software systems (Aveva Pro II, Aspen Hysys, others) and AutoCAD.
  4. Italian native and Milan resident.
  5. English proficiency, both verbal and written.
  6. Experience in engineering and design of hydrogen-derived e-Fuels, CCUS, e-Ammonia, and related technologies.
  7. Understanding of the European regulatory framework related to environmental licensing requirements concerning the development and construction of industrial chemical plants.
  8. Other language skills (German, Spanish, Portuguese).
  9. Familiarity with other process/control engineering and design software.
