Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network and Security Administrator to join our team at CMCC. As a key member of our systems engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to meet our research objectives and service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and manage network devices (firewalls, routers, switches, etc.) to ensure the security and efficiency of our operations;
  • Monitor network performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks;
  • Maintain network security policies, ensuring compliance with current regulations;
  • Collaborate with the IT management team to define and update access and authentication policies;
  • Promptly respond to security incidents, conduct incident analysis, and prepare response plans;
  • Conduct regular incident response drills and update emergency plans based on the results obtained;
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes made, and incidents managed;
  • Generate periodic reports on monitoring activities, identified risks, and mitigation measures implemented.
Requirements
  • M.Sc. degree (or equivalent working experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or other scientific disciplines;
  • Good knowledge of Network protocols: ISO/OSI architecture, TCP/IP stack; IPv6, IGP and EGP routing (OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP); QoS, Ethernet protocols (VLAN tagging/IEEE 802.1q, Link Aggregation/IEEE 802.3ad);
  • Good knowledge of Optical fiber transmission technologies;
  • Good knowledge of Operating systems for network equipment with particular reference to NVIDIA Cumulus OS and Cisco IOS and level 2 and 3 network services on a geographical scale;
  • Good knowledge of Programming languages: Python;
  • Good knowledge of Automation of assignments: Ansible;
  • Good knowledge about monitoring system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning;
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues;
  • Liaise with other IT personnel for problem resolution;
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools;
  • Good knowledge of Linux systems and network services administration;
  • Good knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and script languages (i.e., *nix shell);
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS);
  • Hands-on experience with performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations;
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring performance and ensuring system availability and reliability;
  • Strong attitude to work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure;
  • Hands-on experience with selecting and implementing security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team;
  • Fluency in English.
Additional Skills
  • Hands-on experience with Monitoring network traffic for security incidents and events;
  • Hands-on experience with Investigating incidents and responding to events in real time;
  • Confirmed experience to write detailed incident response reports;
  • Confirmed experience to install and operate firewalls, encryption programs, and other security software;
  • Hands-on experience with fixing vulnerabilities;
  • Hands-on experience with performing periodic risk assessments and penetration tests.

  • Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience;
