About the Role:

The Director of Technology Management will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful design and implementation of complex projects, including signalling and E&M turnkeys, within the Asia region. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, technical resource management, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary design teams: Set project goals, define timelines and budgets, allocate resources, and ensure all team members are working towards the same objectives.
  • Liaise with central engineering function departments: Technical troubleshooting, engineering budgeting, and managing resource coordination and prioritization.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously: Oversee several projects at once, requiring excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Monitor and report project progress: Keep stakeholders informed about progress, milestones achieved, and potential challenges.
  • Manage project technical risks and contingencies: Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks, and have contingency plans in place for unforeseen circumstances.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients: Understand client needs and ensure designs meet their expectations.
  • Communicate project progress and challenges to clients clearly and concisely: Build trust and keep clients informed for successful project completion.
  • Negotiate technical aspects of contracts and agreements: This may involve negotiating project scope, fees, and timelines.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of railway systems: This includes the various subsystems such as train control, signalling, communications, power supply, and track infrastructure.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry standards and regulations: The railway industry is constantly evolving, so the Director must be aware of the latest changes and ensure designs comply.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into practical design solutions: Communication between engineers and other stakeholders is key.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems and providing solutions: When issues arise, the Director will be responsible for finding solutions and ensuring project progress continues.
  • Contributing to business development efforts: Identifying new project opportunities and securing funding.
  • Staying abreast of new technologies and innovations in the railway industry: Continuously seeking ways to improve design and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in a similar business market: Proven track record of success in technology management and project delivery.
  • Engineering Bachelor or Masters degree: Strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
