Job Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of On Board Systems Engineer to lead the On Board Systems team in the Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of systems engineers and overseeing the design, development, and testing of on-board systems for mass transit platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage a team of systems engineers responsible for the design, development, and testing of on-board systems.
  2. Oversee the analysis of system performance, functional, and integration requirements in cooperation with the Train System Engineer and project team.
  3. Prepare system requirements specifications for suppliers.
  4. Define system architecture and functions with suppliers and the Train System Engineer.
  5. Develop functional specifications for integration and operation on the vehicle.
  6. Prepare system performance and functional test specifications.
  7. Support tests activities at supplier facilities and on the vehicle until validation/homologation completion.

Requirements

  1. At least 5 years of experience in the railway industry with System Engineering roles.
  2. Knowledge of basic RAMS disciplines is an advantage.
  3. Knowledge of main regulations/standards relating to on-board systems in the railway business.
  4. Knowledge of office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.).
  5. Knowledge of system engineering processes throughout the life cycle of the product and with an interdisciplinary approach.
  6. Recommended knowledge of electrical/mechanical design topics and software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, Scilab, Matlab).
  7. Knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool or equivalent.
  8. Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation, with the aptitude to contribute with constructive and practical ideas and efforts.
  9. Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative and international environment.
  10. Ability to work autonomously and together in teams is required.
  11. Availability for national and international business trips.

Education / Qualifications

Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Vehicle Transportation Engineering or equivalent.

Languages
Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. English language knowledge international C1 level.
