About the Role

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. is seeking an experienced and skilled Head of On Board Systems to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for leading the On Board Systems team and ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead the On Board Systems team, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Develop and implement system requirements specifications for suppliers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Train System Engineer and project team to analyze system performance, functional, and integration requirements.
  • Define system architecture and functions with suppliers and the Train System Engineer.
  • Develop functional specifications for the integration and operation of on-board systems.
  • Prepare system performance and functional test specifications.
  • Support testing activities at supplier facilities and on the vehicle until validation/homologation completion.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in the railway industry with System Engineering roles.
  • Knowledge of RAMS disciplines and main regulations/standards relating to on-board systems in the railway business.
  • Proficiency in office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.) and system engineering processes throughout the product life cycle.
  • Recommended knowledge of electrical/mechanical design topics and software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, Scilab, Matlab).
  • Experience with IBM DOORS requirements management tool or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Availability for national and international business trips.

Education and Qualifications

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Vehicle Transportation Engineering or equivalent.

Language

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. English language knowledge at international C1 level is required.
