Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations, offering support, guidance, design engineering, project planning, and management of IBX Operations Security to ensure alignment with performance goals for customer satisfaction. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address business security needs effectively. Manage the operation and maintenance of security systems, securing necessary support from manufacturers or suppliers.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Efficiently manage facility maintenance for all security systems, directing and training the operations team to achieve service availability objectives of 99.999% or higher. Achieving this level of availability necessitates effective personnel management through training and a comprehensive understanding of mission-critical data center systems and their redundancy features. Supervise security systems capacity. Oversee operations team workloads to ensure timely customer service delivery. Manage quality assurance, quality control, and employee training processes to deliver high-quality outcomes and consistently meet customer expectations. Support supervisors, security engineers, and IBX site security personnel, assisting in testing, project management, and incident resolution. Maintain consistency in the administration and enforcement of Equinix security policies and standard operating procedures, while providing ongoing review, insights, and enhancements to policy documents. Provide 24/7, 365-day response to emergencies such as security system failures, alarms, customer escalations, severe weather, etc., arranging qualified backups when unavailable. Conduct timely incident and security breach investigations, communication, escalation, and remedial action plans as necessary. Collaborate closely with Research and Design teams for the development and implementation of new security technologies and the successful construction of new Equinix data centers. Manage multiple concurrent security projects and foster teamwork. Plan, coordinate, review budgets, and allocate resources to complete security projects and maintenance within the data center. Effectively manage both capital and operational expenditures while maintaining adequate business control. Provide coordination and support to Equinix Security Global Contractors. Oversee contractor work and operations to ensure compliance with Equinix's standards, KPIs, and SLAs.

Required Knowledge and Experience

Minimum years of experience in facility maintenance, operations, and management with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent. Supervisor-level experience leading multiple trade disciplines. Comprehensive background in data center security infrastructure and networking. Operational experience with data communication issues, including physical security, resource management, capacity planning, monitoring, and performance.

Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical skills and hands-on problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with a heightened sense of urgency. Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting blueprints and schematics, with effective written and verbal communication skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge and/or certification with security systems manufacturers such as AMAG, Software House, Loronix, Prowatch, Gallagher, Lenel, AEOS, or GE is advantageous. Ability to perform maintenance tasks and produce all necessary reports and documentation. Familiarity with common network protocols such as TCP/IP and experience in troubleshooting networks, including LAN and WAN. Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities. Understanding of test equipment (e.g., Bert testing, cable analyzers, Sniffer).
