Job Summary

JAS Worldwide is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Trade Lane Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving the overall volume growth of assigned trade lanes, ensuring targeted growth is achieved in coordination with Sales and Product teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage demand and supply in designated Trade Lanes.
  • Ensure targeted growth is achieved in coordination with Sales and Product teams.
  • Drive actions across all sales channels and geographies to reach agreed volume yield targets.
  • Responsible for overall trade lane target setting for designated trade lanes.
  • Proactively engage and participate in RFQs from strategy session to business award, implementation, and transition to geography.
  • Ensure market-conform pricing is submitted as of the 1st round.
  • Participate in procurement strategy with carriers and vendors.
Essential Functions
  • Strategic thinking, thinking big.
  • Responsible for setting volume growth targets together with WST, WOT, and WAT.
  • Responsible for achieving volume growth targets.
  • Protect existing business.
  • Engage in relevant RFQs related to designated lane, assist RFQ teams, establish competitive pricing strategy to increase win ratio.
  • Challenge and validate proposed target selling rates for assigned trade lanes and align with product.
  • Work closely with procurement and pricing specialists to ensure up-to-date and confirmed in central rate repository.
  • Develop strategies to optimize cargo and carrier mix to improve profitability in lane.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes, market situation, and customer requirements; update all respective working colleagues within geographies on changes of market condition.
  • Develop new products and services to increase volumes.
  • Identify top opportunities (top opportunity = great impact on volumes).
  • Monthly reporting for sales activity on assigned trade lane or lanes.
  • Serve as first point of contact for commercial questions from sales, branches, and operations.
  • Provide support to sales in form of marketing campaigns, flyers, pricing, routing solutions, and internal/external presentations.
  • Prepare and present quarterly action plan and progress report to WST, WOT, and WAT.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of designated route including ports, airports, cities, and JAS Worldwide offices.
  • Familiar with local laws applicable to route that affect trade and customers.
  • Identify differentiators in route to sell to customers.
  • Organize customer events in conjunction with product.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise 1 or more employees.

Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and Wintouch.
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in team and independently.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Able to travel extensively domestically and internationally.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Extra languages may be required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or combination of education and experience.
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years successful international freight forwarding sales/operations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of import/export processes and laws.
  • IATA certification as freight forwarder is desired.
Environment

100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be (up to__ %) required in support of position's responsibilities. While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. While performing duties of this job, employee frequently is required to stop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds. This position requires employee to frequently work in fluid, fast-paced environment.
