Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive environmental impact evaluations for energy initiatives, supervising assessments of ecological components.
  • Identify and assess potential environmental hazards, devising innovative mitigation strategies to reduce negative effects.
  • Perform environmental and social due diligence to analyze risks associated with energy projects, ensuring adherence to regulations and industry benchmarks.
  • Execute detailed audits to evaluate compliance with environmental standards, social criteria, and financial obligations.
  • Formulate advanced and customized mitigation approaches to tackle intricate environmental and social challenges, ensuring conformity with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
  • Offer strategic counsel to project teams on the integration of mitigation strategies into project plans and financing arrangements.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with engineers, economists, legal experts, and other professionals to analyze data and evaluate project viability.
  • Provide expert environmental insights to guide decision-making processes and enhance project design.
  • Prepare thorough and insightful environmental reports for stakeholders, including investors, financiers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Effectively communicate findings, risks, and mitigation strategies to support project financing activities and decision-making.
  • Mentor junior consultants, offering guidance on complex environmental matters, project management, and client relations.
  • Assist in proposal development and client engagement activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and environmental standards.
  • Travel internationally to conduct site assessments and evaluate environmental and health & safety aspects of energy projects.
  • Review environmental documentation, compliance measures, and project execution on-site, providing expert recommendations.
  • Provide oversight and support for project management tasks, including budget tracking, schedule management, and milestone monitoring.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of environmental outputs and compliance with financing criteria.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Expertise in environmental impact assessment methodologies, ESDD compliance, external monitoring, and environmental and social management systems related to project financing.
  • Thorough understanding and application of IFC Performance Standards, as well as ADB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other international lenders' environmental, social, health, and safety standards, particularly in infrastructure and/or energy sectors.
  • Capability to perform air quality and noise modeling; proficiency in using Windpro for shadow flicker, noise, and visual impact assessments is advantageous.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English; working knowledge of French or Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel globally for short assignments.

Education

MSc or MA degree in Environmental/Chemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences, with a focus on environmental impact assessment related to industrial activities.
