Project Overview: This position is part of a significant research initiative focused on the development of hyaluronic acid-based carriers for targeted delivery in cancer treatment.
Contract Details: The role is offered as a collaboration contract with a duration of 24 months.

Your Research Team: The successful candidate will join the Polymers and Biomaterials Research Line, led by Prof. Nicola Tirelli, and will collaborate with the Genomic Science center, directed by Dr. Francesco Nicassio. This interdisciplinary team focuses on polymer and colloid chemistry, nanomaterials, and drug delivery, alongside high-throughput experimental studies on non-coding RNAs.
Project Goals: The AIRC project aims to utilize hyaluronic acid (HA)-based nanoparticles for the effective delivery of non-coding RNA and other therapeutic agents. The primary responsibilities of this postdoctoral role will include:
- Conducting in vitro evaluations of the efficacy of RNA-loaded nanomaterials in complex biological systems.
- Assessing the performance of these nanomaterials in non-tumor-bearing murine models, focusing on pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, degradation of nanoparticle components, and overall safety.
- Investigating the in vivo effectiveness of RNA-loaded nanomaterials in tumor-bearing models, both as standalone therapies and in combination with established chemotherapeutic agents.
Essential Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, or veterinary medicine.
- PhD in cancer research, pharmacology, drug delivery, or a related field.
- Experience with small laboratory animals, particularly in intravenous administration.
- Proficiency in histology and ex vivo techniques, including fluorescence microscopy and blood analysis.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and standard cell biology methodologies (PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry).
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with in vivo imaging techniques.
- Experience with catheterization, microdialysis, or stereotactic procedures.
- Expertise in the analysis and delivery of non-coding RNA constructs.
- Knowledge of in vitro 3D cellular models (spheroids).
- Experience in pharmacokinetic studies.
- Background in the use of colloidal formulations for drug delivery.
- Experience in administering drugs/formulations via the cerebrospinal fluid.
