Job Title: mRNA Process Development Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled mRNA Process Development Scientist to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our biopharmaceutical development team, you will be responsible for the development and optimization of downstream processes for mRNA-based therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize downstream processes for mRNA-based therapeutics using techniques such as TFF, FPLC, and depth filtration.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, technical consultations, training, and bench trials to ensure the successful development of mRNA-based therapeutics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement scalable downstream processes for mRNA-based therapeutics.
  • Support technology transfer to cGMP manufacturing and quality control groups for clinical material production and analysis.
  • Perform routine bench work under limited supervision and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Life Sciences, Chemical, Biological, or Process Engineering with proven experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably in a PD role.
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related scientific subject areas with +2 years of relevant post-doctoral or industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of main purification techniques used for drug manufacturing, including TFF, FPLC, and depth filtration.
  • Experience in process development for therapeutics with standard downstream purification techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present work clearly among the team.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Expertise in upstream processing, including experience with bioreactors at small, intermediate, and large scales.
  • Experience applying U/HPLC, FPLC, CGE, Ribogreen assay, and DLS.
  • Technical expertise in mRNA synthesis by enzymatic method development.
