**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an experienced leader to serve as the Director of Research Protections at Villanova University. This critical role involves providing administrative oversight and strategic guidance to programs that support safe and ethically sound scientific research.

**About the Role:**

The Director of Research Protections will oversee institutional research protection functions, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and Financial Conflicts of Interest Committee. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of federal guidelines governing human subjects research, research involving animals, research biosafety, and research-related conflicts of interest.

**Responsibilities:**

  1. Oversee operations of institutional research protection functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  2. Provide leadership and strategic guidance to staff members responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks
  3. Maintain institutional documentation and records related to research protections functions
  4. Ensure ORP systems capture sufficient data to support research protections program
  5. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics related to research protections

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in university research protections environment
  • Knowledge of federal guidelines governing human subjects research, research involving animals, research biosafety, and research-related conflicts of interest
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills required

**What We Offer:**

Villanova University offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, ranging from $120,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

**Location:**

This position is based in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and may involve occasional travel to conferences or meetings.
