Your Research Team

You will be part of the COgITOR laboratory, directed by Prof. Alessandro Chiolerio, focusing on Bioinspired Soft Robotics. Collaborating within a diverse and multidisciplinary team, you will engage in innovative research utilizing state-of-the-art facilities.

Research Focus

The project involves the design and assessment of a prototype for a colloidal cybernetic system, which is a multifunctional platform composed of liquid materials capable of self-healing, sensing, computation, memory, and energy recovery and conversion, integrated with custom electronics.

The primary objective is to develop, characterize, and optimize a liquid state pressure sensor, integrating energy, sensing, and computing subsystems into the final COgITOR prototype. The prototype will undergo characterization to evaluate subsystem interactions and performance in extreme conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabrication of the liquid state pressure sensor
  • Characterization and evaluation of the sensor
  • Integration of subsystems (pressure, energy, computing) into a cohesive device
  • Testing of the integrated system
  • Conducting tests in extreme environments

Essential Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in engineering or physics
  • Proven experience and proficiency in LabView and experimental setup
  • Ability to work autonomously and responsibly in a laboratory setting
  • Strong skills in organizing, reporting, and publishing research findings
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Willingness to relocate for the duration of the contract
