Job Summary:

The Department of the Navy is seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team. As a Financial Management Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial management functions of the Department of the Navy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on and perform work in all phases of budget administration, including formulating budgets and estimates to support plans, programs, and activities.
  • Review and evaluate budget requests to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop, determine, and interpret budgetary policies and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Execute modifications to financial systems, programs, and operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish criteria and means to assess, investigate, and analyze unusual problems and conditions affecting financial management.
  • Analyze financial processes and policies to identify key internal controls and recommend improvements.
  • Identify problems and recommend solutions for financial management projects.
  • Review data to verify the accuracy of operational and financial performance metrics.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Financial Management Analyst.
  • Specialized experience may include advising or performing work in any phase or system of budget administration, formulating budgets and estimates to support programs, and recommending cost and benefits of alternative methods of organization's programs.

Additional Information:

  • Work is principally sedentary. No special physical demands are required.
  • Work involves normal risks and discomforts associated with an office environment.
