Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Underwriting and Financial Lines Strategy to lead our Financial Lines business in the Southern Europe region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy for Financial Lines and Cyber & PI Tech business, ensuring the successful achievement of Allianz Commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy Development: Develop and execute the strategy for Financial Lines and Cyber & PI Tech business in the Southern Europe region, ensuring alignment with Allianz Commercial targets.
  2. Underwriting Management: Manage a team of underwriters to ensure compliance with underwriting authority, pricing, and rating guidelines.
  3. Portfolio Management: Steer and control the Financial Lines and Cyber & PI Tech portfolio to drive the achievement of financial targets.
  4. Underwriting Planning: Drive the underwriting planning process and monitor adherence to plan, taking corrective action as necessary.
  5. Performance Review: Proactively liaise with functional areas to review performance of end-to-end underwriting life cycle.
  6. Cross-Selling: Work closely with Distribution, Claims, and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross-selling.
  7. Underwriting Consistency: Ensure underwriting consistency and discipline and adherence to all corporate guidelines and authority levels.
  8. Product Development: Proactively support the development and implementation of new and/or modified products.
  9. Client Management: Maintain executive contacts and accompany the Underwriting of all core or strategic accounts.
  10. New Business Acquisition: Support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).
  11. Team Management: Manage and coordinate Financial Lines and Cyber & PI Tech local underwriting team, including people management within the hierarchy framework in the AGCS legal entity.
  12. Strategic Plan Execution: Coordinate with local Distribution team to drive successful execution of strategic plan.
  13. Business Strategy Communication: Communicate local business strategy externally.
  14. Internal Representation: Represent Allianz Commercial internally within the Allianz Group, and externally to the market.
  15. Underwriting Process Involvement: Involve Distribution, Risk Consulting, and Claims in the Underwriting process.
Requirements
  1. Education: Master's Degree in Law or Business Administration.
  2. Experience: Strong experience (min. 7 years) in underwriting profitable Financial Lines business for corporate clients, including Financial Institutions.
  3. Expertise: Proven experience in pure Financial Lines business.
  4. Risk Assessment: Expertise in risk assessment and a firm understanding of policy administration life cycle.
  5. Pricing and Market Analysis: Sound knowledge of pricing, together with strong market analysis skills.
  6. Wordings and Underwriting Projects: Ideally experience in designing, developing, and implementing consistent and robust wordings, and driving underwriting projects.
  7. People Management: People management and team management skills.
  8. Entrepreneurial Mindset: Entrepreneurial mindset.
  9. Communication and Cultural Competence: Strong communication skills and open cultural mindset to work with different countries of the Region.
  10. Language Skills: Fluent in Italian and English, written and spoken.
