Position Overview: Software Development Leader

  • The incumbent will oversee the software architecture, development, and testing of applications tailored for railway diagnostics data management systems, focusing on train communication and diagnostic technologies.
  • The role involves managing software development resources and project activities effectively.
  • The individual will ensure adherence to Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) management principles throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and guide software development efforts, ensuring QCD commitments are met until project completion.
  • Define and document software functional requirements, ensuring all specifications are verifiable.
  • Maintain traceability of software requirements throughout the development process.
  • Establish the software architecture and development framework, including tools, methodologies, and coding strategies.
  • Collaborate with software designers on integration tasks.
  • Work alongside the hardware architect to facilitate hardware/software integration.
  • Assist in specifying, designing, preparing, and executing software tests and verifications.
  • Promote standardization by leveraging existing solutions or creating reusable components, including Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products.
  • Implement and uphold processes and standards within the development environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on Return of Experience (RoE) and process enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the configuration manager to define the software configuration management plan.
  • Partner with the quality manager to establish the software quality plan.
  • Work with other software architects and Verification & Validation (V&V) architects to outline software verification and validation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the project, reporting to the Software Domain Leader.

Educational Qualifications

  • A Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in electronic or software engineering is required.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in software development phases, including requirement gathering, software development, and hardware-software integration, preferably in the Railway or Automotive sectors.
  • Extensive experience in software design and implementation for complex diagnostics data management systems.
  • Experience in managing work packages for subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
