Position: Embedded Software Engineering Manager

  • Responsible for the architectural design, development, and testing of embedded software applications tailored for railway systems and electronic devices, specifically in train communication and diagnostic systems.
  • Oversees software development resources and project activities assigned.
  • Ensures the timely delivery of software baselines in alignment with Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

  • Delivering train software in accordance with the Engineering Work Package.
  • Implementing and adhering to development procedures, processes, and design guidelines for Train Control & Information Solutions within the project.
  • Managing and maintaining traceability of hardware and software configurations, including design tools, and producing release notes.
  • Ensuring that baseline content, release notes, and software version identifications comply with release standards.
  • Monitoring and controlling project KPIs, providing regular reports to the Software Domain Leader.
  • Responsible for software validation processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing embedded software modules for TCMS equipment, ensuring compliance with software requirements, design specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Overseeing the software development work package, managing timelines, and reporting any project delays or issues to the work package owner or supervisor.
  • Defining both functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
  • Integrating software modules within TCMS subsystems (such as diagnostic systems and train-to-wayside communication systems) and managing configuration for software activities.
  • Ensuring optimal performance of executable code deployed on the target systems for the projects under leadership.
  • Initiating and tracking action plans to address issues and enhance project outcomes.
  • Sharing experiences and insights with the Domain Leader and suggesting improvements to the software development processes and tools.
  • Contributing to the development of Quality Plans.
  • Managing subcontractors effectively.
  • Participating in Change Control Board meetings.

Educational Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in electronic or software engineering is required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in software development phases, including requirement gathering, software development, and hardware-software integration, preferably in the Railway or Automotive sectors.
  • Extensive experience in embedded software design and implementation for complex diagnostic data management systems using C/C++ programming languages.
  • Proficient knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
  • Familiarity with network protocols such as MVB, Ethernet, CAN, RS 232, and RS 485.
  • Experience in managing work packages for subcontractors.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
