Job Overview:

The Financial Accounting Manager is accountable for the comprehensive oversight and leadership of the accounting division. This role encompasses supervising the accounting team, analyzing financial reports, and generating documentation for senior management. Additionally, the manager will formulate and enforce accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting

  • Ensure the accuracy, validity, and punctuality of financial accounting, documentation, and submissions, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements in SAP, adhering to local GAAP standards. This involves reviewing sales and gross margin by business unit and product, evaluating overhead by cost center and business unit, ensuring the appropriateness of accruals and provisions, and finalizing EBIT/EBITDA.

2. Treasury Management

  • Oversee the company's cash flow and bank balances (including credit facilities) efficiently, ensuring seamless operations and optimizing cash positions.
  • Prepare a detailed 15-week cash flow forecast bi-weekly or as needed, ensuring high accuracy against actual figures.

3. Compliance and Statutory Obligations

  • Take full responsibility for the statutory audit (including stock takes) to guarantee that audit processes are conducted smoothly and that an unqualified audit report is secured within the required timeframe from headquarters and local authorities.
  • Collaborate with the company secretary to ensure adherence to local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations, including license applications and renewals.
  • Oversee the implementation and compliance of e-invoicing.
  • Manage transfer pricing compliance.

4. Credit Management and Assessment

  • Evaluate and assess new credit applications, as well as renewals/extensions/increases/reductions of existing credit limits.
  • Analyze current credit risks and recommend provisions for doubtful accounts when necessary.
  • Maintain strict control over approved credit limits and terms, conducting periodic credit assessments for all customers.
  • Manage credit recovery efforts, collaborating with the sales team and legal counsel to follow up on slow or non-collections and initiate legal action if required.

5. Process Enhancement

  • Lead and implement initiatives aimed at process improvement, such as electronic claims and new procurement procedures.

6. Working Capital Management

  • Oversee stock management, including inventory reporting and assessment, and manage slow and non-moving inventory to meet company DIO targets.
  • Ensure accounts receivable collection, forecasting, and follow-up to achieve company DSO targets.
  • Manage accounts payable to facilitate smooth operations while maximizing payment terms to enhance working capital and achieve DPO targets.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in accounting within a manufacturing context.
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting principles and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and embrace challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, mature, and highly proactive in working independently.

Educational Background:

  • Degree in Accounting, ACCA, MICPA, CPA in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.
