is seeking to fill a pivotal role within an international company specializing in Flavours and Food Ingredients.

Position: Director of Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance for Food Ingredients m/f/d

Location: Remote across Europe, with regular travel required to various subsidiaries.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:


The primary objective of this position is to establish a comprehensive strategy and provide proactive leadership in coordinating all strategic and operational activities related to Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance at the Group level.


This role encompasses the definition, alignment, and implementation of standardized policies, procedures, and practices to ensure that the organization operates globally in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards. This includes overseeing risk assessment initiatives and the development of remediation plans.


By effectively managing compliance and risk, the selected candidate will utilize regulatory and quality strategies to significantly contribute to business growth, assisting the company in gaining a competitive advantage, entering new markets, enhancing customer satisfaction, and optimizing operational efficiency.


The candidate will also play a crucial role in supporting the Group in:

  • Implementing a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System (HAZEX/DEVEX) to standardize product information.

Facilitating the standardization of raw materials, product development processes, inter-company authorization workflows, and shared documentation repositories.

Identifying opportunities and challenges within the regulatory landscape and providing support to the Group in relation to Mergers and Acquisitions.


Quality Assurance: Lead the standardization, centralization, and digitalization of Quality Assurance activities conducted by local teams, focusing on organizational and operational synergies related to compliance with Quality Management Systems, auditing, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:


• Establish and oversee a unified global regulatory and quality strategy, emphasizing organizational synergies and cost efficiency.


• Continuously monitor and interpret changes in regulations, standards, and industry guidelines to ensure the organization remains compliant with global regulatory requirements aligned with corporate objectives.


• Supervise the creation, maintenance, and submission of regulatory documentation necessary for product approvals, licenses, and certifications, including plant audits.


• In alignment with business strategy, develop and implement the overarching Regulatory and Quality mission and strategy, ensuring local departments adhere to it in accordance with local legislation.


• Auditing: Oversee internal audit and assessment activities.


• Regulatory Affairs Support: Collaborate with product development teams to navigate regulatory pathways, streamline approvals, and expedite product launches.


• Proactively identify regulatory risks associated with company programs and formulate risk mitigation strategies, establishing processes for the prompt identification and remediation of compliance issues. Ensure the swift escalation of significant legal, quality, and regulatory concerns.


• In line with corporate objectives, define, develop, and manage Global Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance.

Qualifications & Experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:


• A minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in the chemical, biotech, or pharmaceutical sectors, with a proven track record in establishing a global Regulatory and Quality organization to meet company goals (direct experience with Flavours and Colours regulatory legislation is advantageous).


• Demonstrated knowledge of PLM systems for managing Regulatory and Product Development in the chemical or food sectors, particularly Hazex/Devex systems.


• Extensive regulatory agency knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying global regulatory requirements across multiple sites; significant exposure to various regulatory agencies.


• Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local cross-functional teams, contractors, contract research organizations, external associations, and other vendors to manage all legal, regulatory, and quality-related activities effectively.


• Proven capability to analyze complex issues and address key topics for discussion with regulatory authorities, guiding teams in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries.


• A hands-on approach to achieving goals.


• A team-oriented leader who can engage local Quality and Regulatory departments to foster collaboration.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external team members regarding project activities.


• Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or Italian is a plus.


• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
