is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance for Food Ingredients.

Location: Remote within Europe, with frequent travel required to various subsidiaries.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The primary objective of this position is to establish a comprehensive strategy and provide proactive leadership in coordinating all strategic and operational activities related to Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance at the Group level.

This role encompasses the definition, alignment, and implementation of standard policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the organization operates globally in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating risk assessment activities and developing remediation plans.
  • Leveraging regulatory and quality strategies to enhance business development, gain competitive advantages, expand into new markets, and improve customer satisfaction while optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Assisting the Group in deploying a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System (HAZEX/DEVEX) to standardize product information and drive the standardization process for raw materials and product development.
  • Identifying opportunities and challenges within the regulatory landscape, particularly in the context of Mergers and Acquisitions.

Quality Assurance: Spearhead the standardization, centralization, and digitalization of Quality Assurance activities performed by local teams, focusing on organizational and operational synergies in compliance with Quality Management Systems, auditing, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Establish and oversee a unified global regulatory and quality strategy, emphasizing organizational synergies and cost efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor and interpret changes in regulations, standards, and industry guidelines to ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Manage the creation, maintenance, and submission of regulatory documentation necessary for product approvals, licenses, and certifications, including plant audits.
  • In accordance with business strategy, define and implement the overarching Regulatory and Quality mission and strategy, ensuring local departments adhere to it in compliance with local legislation.
  • Oversee internal audits and assessments.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to navigate regulatory pathways, streamline approvals, and expedite product launches.
  • Proactively identify regulatory risks and develop risk mitigation plans, ensuring prompt escalation of significant legal, quality, and regulatory issues.
  • Define, develop, and manage Global Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance in line with corporate goals.
Qualifications & Experience

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • A minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in the chemical, biotech, or pharmaceutical sectors, with a proven track record in establishing a global Regulatory and Quality organization to meet company objectives (experience with Flavours and Colours regulatory legislation is advantageous).
  • Extensive knowledge of PLM systems for managing Regulatory and Product Development in the chemical or food industry, particularly Hazex/Devex systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory agency requirements and experience in applying global regulatory standards across multiple sites.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Proven analytical skills to address complex issues and guide teams in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • A hands-on approach to achieving goals.
  • Ability to foster collaboration among local Quality and Regulatory departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with team members on project activities.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Italian is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
