Train Performance Manager (TPM)

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Directs the Technical Development & Validation of the Train System throughout the project lifecycle. Guarantees that train performance meets customer and regulatory standards, serving as the primary contact for performance and functionality inquiries. Responsible for Train Reliability, achieving LCC targets, ensuring Cybersecurity, and overseeing Validation and Engineering contributions to Certification & Authorization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as the principal technical liaison for customers regarding train performance matters, leading the development and validation of train systems (including operability analysis, system definition, architecture, performance, and functionality).

The primary tasks of the TPM include: translating customer and regulatory requirements into train-level specifications; conducting operational analyses and developing a coherent set of train-level requirements in accordance with Alstom standards; leading functional analyses, and ensuring that specifications and architectures at both train and system levels meet the required inputs.

To achieve this, the TPM oversees the specification and allocation of requirements to subsystem levels, including defining electrical and functional interfaces. The TPM supports System Engineers and ensures that subsystem designs align with specified targets throughout the project lifecycle, including during verification and validation activities.

During the operational phase of the train, the TPM manages the resolution of technical issues in accordance with project strategies, from investigation through to implementation and closure of modifications.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Skills & Qualifications

Master's degree in engineering or equivalent, complemented by relevant experience. In-depth knowledge of products, projects, systems, processes, and company background (over 5 years in railway engineering). Proficient in Business English. Customer-focused. Strong technical management skills. Ability to shift from problem identification to solution-oriented thinking. Proven leadership in project team settings. Capacity to challenge ideas and be receptive to challenges. Skilled in fostering communication among diverse stakeholders and disciplines. Proficient in analysis, problem-solving, and effective decision-making in complex environments. Willingness to travel as needed.
