Train Performance Manager (TPM)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Oversees the technical development and validation of the Train System throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Guarantees that train performance meets customer and regulatory standards, serving as the primary contact for customers regarding performance and functionality.
  • Responsible for Train Reliability, achieving LCC targets, ensuring Cybersecurity, and facilitating Engineering contributions to Certification and Authorization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as the principal technical liaison for customers on train performance matters, leading the development and validation of train systems, including operability analysis, system definition, architecture, performance, and functionality.

The main tasks for the TPM include: converting customer and regulatory requirements into train-level specifications; conducting operational analysis and developing a cohesive set of train-level requirements in accordance with Alstom standards; performing functional analysis, and verifying that specifications and architectures at both train and system levels meet the input requirements.

To achieve this, the TPM directs the specification and allocation of requirements to sub-systems, including defining electrical and functional interfaces. They provide support to System Engineers and ensure that sub-systems' designs align with specified targets throughout the project lifecycle, including during verification and validation processes.

During the operational phase of the train, the TPM manages the resolution of technical issues in alignment with project strategies, from investigation through to implementation and closure of problems.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent, complemented by relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of products, projects, systems, and company processes (over 5 years in railway engineering).
  • Proficient in Business English.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Strong technical management capabilities.
  • Ability to shift from problem identification to solution-oriented thinking.
  • Proven leadership skills in project management.
  • Capacity to challenge and be challenged constructively.
  • Excellent communication skills among diverse stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities in complex environments.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
