Job Description

The United Nations Global Service Centre is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Supply Chain Service, you will be responsible for coordinating and providing logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations for peacekeeping missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Logistics Planning and Coordination: Develop logistical plans for existing missions and contingency plans for drawdown and liquidation of missions.
  • Supply Chain Management: Manage logistics operations, including management of logistics assets, materials, contracts, and personnel.
  • Resource Mobilization: Identify, mobilize, and implement special logistics operations, incorporating Green Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model in all warehouse operations.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance to units under supervision, in relation to the development and execution of subsidiary budgets and the management of personnel needs.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Draft and coordinate inputs to logistics reports, presentations, briefing notes, talking points, and other information documents required by management.
  • Supply Chain Planning: Provide input towards the development of supply chain management plans, including demand, supply, replenishment, and safety stock budgets and schedules.
  • Logistics Support: Liaise with and coordinate logistics support provision to UN agencies, military, other organizations, and clients.
  • ERP Implementation: Provide inputs and guidance for the formulation of packaging and shipping requirement-related ERP capabilities.
  • Accounting and Reporting: Ensure accurate and complete accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are functioning, and all relevant records are maintained.
  • Gender-Sensitive Logistics: Ensure that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
  • Process Improvement: Translate policies and guidance into actionable plans, including developing required new and/or improved business processes and supporting standard operating procedures.
  • Business Intelligence: Leverage Business Intelligence (BI) tools focused on demand and supply processes, generating data to improve overall mission supply chain operational responsiveness, agility, and reliability.
  • Process Re-Engineering: Lead process re-engineering to streamline supply chain management functions and transition Centralized Warehousing into the centre of excellence for a responsive supply chain management function.
  • Technical Advice: Provide technical advice on ERP functionalities about warehouse and inventory management, particularly regarding the SMART warehouse project.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation, and reporting.
Requirements
  • Education: Advanced University Degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in logistics, business administration, public administration, engineering, or other relevant field.
  • Job-Specific Qualification: Certification in Project/Programme Management methodology by an accredited body (e.g. MSP, PMP, PGMP, PRINCE) or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of five (05) years of progressively responsible experience in surface or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial, or international organizations, or related area.
  • Languages: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
