Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Director of External Audits Facilitation Team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the timely and quality execution of coordinator tasks, conducting team strategy meetings, and assigning lead coordinators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the timely and quality execution of coordinator tasks, ensuring that all phases of the external audit process are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct team strategy meetings to discuss ongoing projects, assign tasks, and provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Assign lead coordinators to oversee specific audit projects and ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Monitor audit coordinators engaged in all phases of the external audit process, ensuring that they are utilizing audit monitoring and tracking tools, and that audit submissions and requests are updated daily and accurately.
  • Ensure that assigned staff are utilizing audit monitoring and tracking tools, and that audit submissions and requests are updated daily and accurately.
  • Intervene via written and verbal correspondence with stakeholders for clarification of requests and/or responses.
  • Analyze changes in Federal, State, and City regulations governing social services programs to determine the impact on the audit unit operations and need for procedural changes.
  • Monitor and review completed audit instruments to ensure they are prepared appropriately for data entry.
  • Review audit coordinator's draft agency audit response for completion and accuracy based on program area response.
  • Advise audit coordinator of any needed corrections or returns for additional information/clarification.
  • Intervene or escalate to director any problematic issues.
  • Facilitate the development of corrective actions to resolve weaknesses noted by external audit agencies.
  • Perform comprehensive statistical and narrative analyses on completed audits to present to HRA and DHS with information necessary to develop and implement corrective action initiatives and minimize the potential for fiscal penalties.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Director, with USDA, OTDA, and other oversight entities as a representative of the Bureau, and report meeting actions to the Director.
  • Update and distribute EAFT monthly Audit Status Report to the Mayor's office.
Requirements
  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business, or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research, or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.
  • 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative, or supervisory capacity, with supervision of staff performing professional work in the areas described above.
