Responsibilities
As Head of Accounting NET-A-PORTER/MR PORTER, you are responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations of the Group's NET-A-PORTER/MR PORTER entities in Italy. You ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while maintaining a strong internal control environment. Acting with a high degree of professional judgment and independence, you are a trusted partner to Group Finance and local management. This role combines operational leadership with strategic oversight and contributes materially to the quality and integrity of the Group's financial information. Here is a breakdown of what you'll be doing:

• Lead and oversee all general ledger accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and payroll accounting
• Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Drive month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures in line with Group standards and applicable accounting regulations
• Prepare statutory financial statements and coordinate external statutory audits
• Ensure timely and accurate IFRS reporting packages for Group consolidation and support Group audits
• Ensure compliance with local tax requirements in close coordination with the Group Tax function (e.g. VAT, corporate income tax)
• Maintain and continuously improve internal controls, compliance frameworks, and documentation
• Lead and deliver accounting-related projects, such as ERP implementations, process automation initiatives, or organizational changes
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by providing reliable actuals and variance explanations
• Act as a key interface to internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, fostering high performance, knowledge sharing, and succession planning

They Type Of Person We Are Looking For

• Higher academic degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Several years of professional experience in a comparable senior accounting or finance leadership role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standard
• Experience with SOX environment is a plus
• Proven experience in statutory reporting, audits, and internal controls
• High level of integrity, professional judgment, and independence
• Structured, hands-on, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills in an international environment
• Fluent in English and Italian
