BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
WFP is scaling up efforts to prevent and treat all forms of malnutrition in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2. To do so, WFP is supporting governments and working with other UN agencies, NGO partners as well as with the private sector to increase access, availability, demand and consumption of nutritious foods by vulnerable populations.
Following growing demand for processed and specialized nutrition products, increased interest amongst WFP Country Offices and host governments, private sector funding and food quality identified as a corporate risk, the role of the Food Quality and Safety (SCDF) unit is evolving. At the same time, under the newly formed Supply Chain Division, WFP is strengthening its food quality and safety management by transitioning from end – product testing to quality assurance. This is done through enhanced product specifications, supplier audits and development of effective incident management systems amongst other initiatives.
With evolving needs of SCDF Unit, technical as well as support staff are required to keep step with the growing workload. This specific ToR describes a unique role that incorporates both corporate level policy making and liaisIng with other units as implementation of those programs in the field.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the FSQ corporate initiatives of SNF (specialized nutritious foods) specifications, including:
- Administrate the unit project register, facilitating reviewing & confirming new projects and ensuring an overview of unit large projects.
- Manage SNF specifications and related requests, working with internal and external stakeholders. This including supporting field colleagues to set specifications when required.
2. Knowledge management:
- Review the workstream training content & share-point organization, with aim to continuously improve knowledge transfer
- Other tasks as required
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Successful completion of agreed training program from design to deployment in HQ and RBN;
- Acted as the focal point for all SNF related questions, requests, meetings and discussions in SCDF
- Other tasks assigned to the staff when required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in Food Safety and Quality or other field relevant to the required tasks above
Experience:
Minimum 2 working experience
UN-specific work experience is an asset and desirable with knowledge of common business principals and processes (i.e. Food Procurement)
The profile requires a person with strong business management skills, with a proven track record of coordinating with several parties to achieve deliverables on time. Possibility of travel on the job.
Applied understanding on hazard analysis, risk assessment, Codex and food specifications is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrated organisational capability
Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook) IT Systems acquaintance preferred (i.e. DOT)
Languages:
Strong oral and written English communication skills, other UN languages such as French and Spanish is a plus
