Job Purpose

The Technical Project Manager – External Manufacturing Governance (Pharma) is part of the External Manufacturing organization within Group Industrial Operations.
The role is responsible for the strategic governance and cross-functional coordination of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) projects, ensuring that external manufacturing activities are aligned with company objectives, regulatory expectations, and long-term supply strategies.
The role provides oversight, prioritization, and orchestration of CMO strategic initiatives, enabling effective decision-making and consistent governance across the external manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

•    Act as the governance lead for External Manufacturing projects related to CMOs, ensuring alignment between business strategy and functional execution.

•    Coordinate and chair cross-functional forums (e.g. CMO governance meetings, technical review boards, escalation committees) to ensure structured decision-making.

•    Define and maintain the overall roadmap for projects involving CMOs (e.g. tech transfers, major changes, remediation plans, capacity or capability development).

•    Oversee the prioritization of CMO-related initiatives, balancing quality, regulatory, supply, cost, and resource constraints.

•    Provide consolidated visibility on risks, dependencies, and critical issues impacting external manufacturing, facilitating timely escalation and resolution.

•    Contribute to CMO performance governance by coordinating inputs to KPI frameworks, performance reviews, and continuous improvement roadmaps.

•    Support senior management in strategic decisions related to external manufacturing network design, CMO selection, and partnership evolution.

Required Education

Degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline

Required Skills and Experience

•    6–10 years of experience of Operations, Project Management, or Supply Chain in pharmaceutical manufacturing roles.

•    Demonstrated experience in governance, cross-functional coordination, and strategic oversight of CMOs in a GMP-regulated environment.

•    Knowledge of tech transfer governance, change management frameworks, validation strategies, and regulatory impact assessment.

•    Experience with performance management systems, KPI governance, and risk management at portfolio or network level.

•    Ability to translate complex technical and quality topics into structured inputs for senior leadership decision-making.

•    Good understanding of external manufacturing business models, cost drivers, and long-term supply strategies.

Required Behaviours and Competencies

•    Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills at senior and cross-functional levels.

•    Strategic mindset with the ability to see the "big picture" across functions and CMOs.

•    Clear, concise, and authoritative communication style.

•    Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in regulated environments.
