JOB TITLE: FSIN Secretariat, Food Security Writer and Editor

DURATION: 10 days until NTE 31st December 2025

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Food Security Information Network (FSIN) is a multi-partner initiative co-sponsored by FAO, IFPRI, FEWSNET, JRC, IPC and WFP to exchange knowledge and best practices on food security and nutrition analyses. Its Secretariat is based in the Analysis, Planning and Performance (APP) Division, of WFP in Rome, Italy.

The FSIN Secretariat uses a consultative and consensus-based approach to facilitate the production of analytical food security publications and to support the strengthening of country and regional capacities for data collection, analysis, and decision-making.
The FSIN Secretariat is seeking a consultant to effectively support the development and communication surrounding its publications, products and related activities.
The Food Security writer and editor will assist/contribute to the work of the FSIN Secretariat and report to the FSIN Global Coordinator.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the FSIN Secretariat team and partners/co-authors of FSIN publications, the incumbents' responsibilities will include:
1.Contribute to the production of GRFC Suite of Products
2.Collaborate with the graphic designers in FSIN to produce layout for the GRFC and associated products
3.Advise on the development of the workplan, systems and best practices for producing the GRFC.
4.Produce and update GRFC drafting guidelines
5.Contribute to the drafting and lead on editing the GRFC annual publication
6.Liaise with drafters, contributors, reviewers and briefing them on requirements including style, language, technicalities and deadlines.
7.Develop and deliver trainings to support drafting of GRFC.
8.Provide drafting and editing services to WFP APP teams as needed.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Main deliverables will consist of significant contributions to the FSIN publications and events, such as:
1.The Global Report on Food Crisis 2026
2.Style guidance and drafters guidelines
3.Any report commissioned to FSIN

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Advanced university degree in social sciences, demography, economics, nutrition, public health or related fields.
Experience: Proven ability to synthesize analysis results into clearly written reports. Experience writing similar publications on food security would be an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of food security and nutrition concepts.
Excellent communication skills
Languages: Fluency (spoken and written) in English and competency in French or Spanish.
