JOB PURPOSE:

As Corporate Affairs Lead for the Magnum Ice Cream Company in Italy, you will lead and coordinate the communication and corporate affairs agenda for the Italian Ice Cream business, defining priorities, setting direction and ensuring coherent execution while reinforcing global consistency to protect and enhance the business reputation nationwide.
This is a senior, broad and highly visible role encompassing strategic interaction with a wide range of external stakeholders, including media, policy makers, trade associations, NGOs, politicians, customers and regulatory bodies relevant to the Ice Cream sector and its evolving issues.
Acting as a central orchestration point and working in close partnership with the Italian General Manager, you will drive alignment across functions and leadership teams, ensuring that communications activities are strategically planned, prioritised and delivered with clear ownership.
You will provide strategic counsel and decision support to senior leaders, while holding end-to-end accountability for all communications activities, including out-of-hours media relations, press office operations and issues management.
Whilst you will support the Italian Ice Cream Business leadership team, you will also be part of the European Corporate Affairs team, balancing local needs with the global Communication and Corporate Affairs strategy and critical in deciding when to leverage global expertise to support critical issues, locally
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strategic Communications Leadership:Act as the single point of leadership and coordination for all communications and corporate affairs activities in Italy, to support the delivery of Ice Creams strategic and business priorities in Italy, defining communication priorities and translating Ice Cream strategic and business objectives into a coherent, integrated communications agenda. Build and sustain senior-level relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

• Reputation and Narrative Governance:Own and govern the local narrative and positioning, ensuring it resonates with the Italian context while remaining fully aligned with global strategy. Steer and coordinate cross-functional teams on brand campaigns, reputation management and sensitive topics, setting clear direction and ensuring our values and goals are communicated effectively and consistently.

• Media Strategy and Oversight:Provide strategic oversight of media relations for the Italian Ice Cream business, leveraging deep understanding of the Italian media landscape to anticipate risks, identify opportunities and guide engagement. Set the agenda for media monitoring, messaging and positioning, ensuring consistency, quality and timeliness across all outputs

• Issues Management:Lead issues management in Italy, setting out complex situations clearly, defining recommended actions and approaches. Act as a constructive challenger where necessary, ensuring risks are surfaced early and managed decisively to protect the company's reputation.

• Executive Advisory and Spokesperson Enablement: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Italian General Manager and leadership team, shaping communication strategies for high-visibility moments. Direct and coordinate preparation for external speaking opportunities, media interviews and stakeholder engagements.

• Corporate Affairs: Actively collaborate with the European Corporate Affairs team to understand the nuances of policy decision for local markets and support representation in key local Trade Associations and industry partners on a wide range of topics. Translate high-level advocacy messages into tangible policy asks, identify new opportunities and mitigate risks and costs for the business.

• Internal Communications and Leadership Alignment: Set direction for internal communications, while ensuring global alignment, clarity and drive engagement across the organisation. Advise senior leaders on internal narrative, change communications and leadership engagement, including townhalls and critical internal moments.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• 8+ years of experience in communications and corporate affairs, preferably in an international FMCG or consumer-facing environment.

• Proven experience in leading integrated communications agendas, including media relations, issues management and executive counsel.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and steer strategic communication plans for complex and sensitive topics, balancing global direction with local relevance.

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to prioritise, coordinate and influence without direct authority in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

• Proven capability in anticipating, managing and mitigating reputational risks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy or regulatory content into clear strategic implications for leadership teams.

• Solid experience building credible, senior-level relationships with external stakeholders.

• Strong business acumen and understanding of political, social and environmental dynamics impacting the business.

• Fluency in Italian and English.
