Position Overview

Data Center Operations Manager Italy (Rome).

Data Center Operations Management is all about overseeing the planning, hardware setup and configuration, optimization, day-to-day operations, and continual upkeep of the computer/data center. As the manager, you'll be responsible for supervising system performance, monitoring equipment, and managing vendor relationships. Your role includes capacity planning and making ongoing assessments to enhance processes, ensuring they are well-documented, sustainable, and scalable. You'll keep a close eye on current practices to ensure they align with policies, compliance regulations, and quality standards. Your tasks may range from having an internal or external client focus, including handling company-hosted, Web-powered solutions, or engaging in project-based work alongside Professional Services and outsourcing functions.

What You'll Be Doing in This Role:

  • Prioritize and allocate trouble tickets to data center engineers.
  • Lead a diverse team of data center operation professionals with different skill sets across the Milan location.
  • Create career paths for employees and update our internal tools as needed.
  • Hire and train data technicians to maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient management of day-to-day data center operations, managing queue, shift arrangements, and hardware logistics.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in all aspects of data center operations, particularly in DCIM integrations.
  • Track and meet all operational KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and metrics.
  • Report key metrics to peer teams.
  • Inspire and lead process improvement, technological innovation, and automation within the team.
  • Handle Large Scale Events, incident management, and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement workflows for data center operations.
  • Possess a deep understanding of critical Mechanical & Electrical infrastructure.
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and required SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Manage on-call scheduling, coordinating absences and vacations effectively.
  • Show dedication to delivering top-notch services and continuously strive to enhance our Customer Experience.
Desired Qualifications

6+ years of solid experience in data center operations management with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities in the field. 3+ years of managerial experience overseeing people. Experience in planning, installing and configuring hardware, optimizing operations, and maintaining computer/data centers. Comprehensive knowledge of overseeing systems performance, equipment monitoring, and vendor management. Experience in capacity planning and ongoing assessments for data center operations. Thorough understanding of data center facilities and infrastructure including power, HVAC, structured cabling, rack management, and security. Experience in vendor management within a data center environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle multiple unrelated issues concurrently. Domestic and international travel availability required. Proficient in documentation, especially for technical processes and standards. Familiarity with ITIL process methodologies is a plus. Proven ability to work independently in challenging situations with a track record of success. Excellent communication, customer focus, problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and interpersonal skills.
