The **European University Institute** (EUI) at a glance:

The Department of Political and Social Sciences (SPS) is one of Europe’s leading centres for research on

comparative politics, political behaviour and political sociology, the sociology of inequality, analytic sociology,

and international relations and security and is European and international in character.

**About the project**

**Project Director **Prof. Elias Dinas

**Project details **WeEqualize will address the intertwined implications of the gender revolution
- including changing gender beliefs, rising labor market insecurity, and the
increasing retreat from partnerships - in shaping social inequalities in work-family
strategies among different-sex couples across 24 countries from the 1960s to
nowadays. WeEqualize proposes a new theoretical framework to identify and
disentangle the distinct and changing drivers of work-family strategies by couples’
education and across 24 industrialized countries. This framework will identify
barriers and solutions to gender inequality within partnerships. The postdoctoral
researcher will contribute to the aims of the project that employ and harmonizes
time-diary data and longitudinal surveys as well as advanced statistics methods
(e.g. latent-class analysis, relative density approach, demographic
microsimulation methods, etc.).

**Job** **description** The Research Assistants will provide research assistance to the Director of the
project.

Main tasks include:

- Engaging in high-quality research within the scope of the project;_ _
- Contributing to publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals in sociology,

demography, and related disciplines;_ _
- Participating in the academic life of the research unit._**Qualifications and experience**

**Qualifications and Essential**:
**Experience**
- Bachelor in sociology, demography, or another relevant discipline;
- Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative research methods;
- Strong programming skills in either R or Stata acquired through previous

experience;
- Demonstrated experience using time-use data or other large-scale survey

data;
- Proven communication skills and ability to work both independently and in

international teams;
**Desirable**:

- PhD in sociology, demography, or another relevant discipline by start date;
- Demonstrated experience with cross-national data or longitudinal data;
- Demonstrated experience with latent-class analysis or demographic

microsimulations;
- Proven knowledge of the work-family literature and the gender division of

labour literature.

**Languages **Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written (CEFR level: C1 or
above).
