Director of Technology Management

About the Role:
Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Management Director to lead our Railways System team in the Asia region. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful design and implementation of complex projects, including signalling and E&M turnkeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams to achieve project goals, define timelines and budgets, and allocate resources.
- Liaise with central engineering function departments for technical troubleshooting, engineering budgeting, and resource coordination and prioritization.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing several projects at once and requiring excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Monitor and report project progress to stakeholders, keeping them informed about milestones achieved and potential challenges.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and contingencies, having contingency plans in place for unforeseen circumstances.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring designs meet their expectations.
- Communicate project progress and challenges to clients clearly and concisely, building trust and keeping them informed.
- Negotiate technical aspects of contracts and agreements, including project scope, fees, and timelines.
Requirements:
- Deep understanding of railway systems, including train control, signalling, communications, power supply, and track infrastructure.
- Staying up-to-date with industry standards and regulations, ensuring designs comply with the latest changes.
- Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into practical design solutions, communicating effectively with engineers and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshooting technical problems and providing solutions, ensuring project progress continues.
- Contributing to business development efforts, identifying new project opportunities and securing funding.
- Staying abreast of new technologies and innovations in the railway industry, continuously seeking ways to improve design and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications: 10-15 years of experience in a similar business market and an Engineering Bachelor or Masters degree.
