Position Overview:
We are seeking two highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to contribute to groundbreaking work in the field of RNA-based therapeutics and nanoparticle technology.
Contract Type: Collaboration Contract
Location: Genova
The successful candidates will join the esteemed group of Polymers and Biomaterials, led by Prof. Nicola Tirelli. This research group operates at the forefront of polymer and colloid chemistry, focusing on innovative nanomaterials and advanced drug delivery techniques.
Project Focus:
The project aims to harness hyaluronic acid nanoparticles for effective delivery of non-coding RNA and various therapeutic agents. The specific responsibilities for each position include:
- Position 1: Chemical synthesis of novel multifunctional cationic polymers designed for RNA complexation.
- Position 2: Derivatization of hyaluronic acid-based materials.
- Production of RNA-loaded nanoparticles utilizing microfluidic technology (both positions).
- Investigation of cellular uptake, internalization, and transfection efficiency (both positions).
- Characterization of inflammatory responses post-transfection (both positions).
Essential Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or master's degree in chemistry, industrial chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or a related field.
- PhD in drug delivery, polymer chemistry, or a relevant discipline.
- Experience in polymerization chemistry, particularly ring-opening polymerization mechanisms (Position 1).
- Expertise in the characterization and modification of polysaccharides (Position 2).
- Proficiency in culturing and testing mammalian cell lines.
- Strong command of both spoken and written English.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with confocal microscopy techniques.
- Experience with molecular biology methods, including PCR and gel electrophoresis.
- Knowledge of characterization techniques such as light scattering and field flow fractionation.
- Expertise in microfluidic systems.
- Experience with colloidal formulations in drug delivery applications.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with in vitro 3D cellular models (spheroids).
- Knowledge of drug administration via cerebrospinal fluid.
