Postdoctoral Researcher in Nanoparticle-Based Cancer Treatment

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in Genova, Italy. The successful candidate will be part of the Research Line of Polymers and Biomaterials, headed by Prof. Nicola Tirelli, and will collaborate with the center of Genomic Science, headed by Dr. Francesco Nicassio.
Project OverviewThe AIRC project aims to develop hyaluronic acid (HA)-based nanoparticles for the delivery of non-coding RNA and other payloads. The work program for this specific post-doctoral position will focus on:
- In vitro assessment of efficacy of the RNA-loaded nanomaterials in complex in vivo models
- Evaluation of the nanomaterials in non-tumour bearing murine models, including pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, degradation of the nanoparticle components and payloads, and overall safety
- In vivo efficacy of the RNA-loaded nanomaterials in tumour-bearing models, both as a single therapy and as a combination with known chemotherapeutic drugs
- Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the RNA-loaded nanomaterials
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and optimize the nanoparticle formulations and delivery systems
- Analyze and interpret data from experiments, and present findings in scientific reports and publications
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications
- PhD in cancer studies, pharmacology, drug delivery, or a related field
- Experience in working with small laboratory animals and in particular with IV administration
- Experience in histology and ex vivo techniques, including fluorescence microscopy, blood analysis
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and standard cell biology techniques, such as PCR, Western, and flow cytometry
- Experience with in vivo imaging techniques
- Experience with catheterization, microdialysis, or stereotactic techniques
- Expertise in the analysis and delivery of non-coding RNA constructs
- Expertise in in vitro 3D cellular models (spheroids)
- Expertise in pharmacokinetic studies
- Experience in the use of colloidal formulations in drug delivery
