Your Research Team: The successful candidate will engage with the Polymers and Biomaterials Research Line, led by Prof. Nicola Tirelli, and collaborate with the Genomic Science center under Dr. Francesco Nicassio in Milano. This research line merges polymer and colloid chemistry with drug delivery systems, while the genomic center specializes in high-throughput experimental studies on non-coding RNAs.

Project Focus: The AIRC project aims to leverage hyaluronic acid (HA)-based nanoparticles for effective delivery of non-coding RNA and other therapeutic agents. The postdoctoral role will primarily involve:

  • Conducting in vitro evaluations of the efficacy of RNA-loaded nanomaterials in complex biological systems.
  • Assessing the pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and safety of the nanomaterials in non-tumor-bearing murine models.
  • Investigating the in vivo effectiveness of RNA-loaded nanoparticles in tumor-bearing models, both as standalone treatments and in combination with established chemotherapeutic agents.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences, medicine, or veterinary medicine.
  • PhD in cancer research, pharmacology, drug delivery, or a related field.
  • Experience with small laboratory animals, particularly in intravenous administration.
  • Proficiency in histology and ex vivo methodologies, including fluorescence microscopy and blood analysis.
  • Background in mammalian cell culture and standard cell biology techniques (PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry).

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with in vivo imaging techniques.
  • Experience in catheterization, microdialysis, or stereotactic procedures.
  • Expertise in the analysis and delivery of non-coding RNA constructs.
  • Knowledge of in vitro 3D cellular models (spheroids).
  • Experience in pharmacokinetic studies.
  • Understanding of colloidal formulations in drug delivery.
  • Experience in administering drugs/formulations via the cerebrospinal fluid.
