Role Purpose:

The Global Trade team at Hitachi Energy plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with trade regulations and enhancing trade-related business processes. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including export controls, sanctions compliance, customs regulations, and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

The Global Trade Manager is tasked with leading and executing the Hitachi Energy Global Trade Program (GTP) within the corporate headquarters and across various corporate functions, including Tax, Treasury, R&D, IT, HR, and Supply Chain Management.

The position involves reporting to the global Head of Trade Compliance & Security and being an integral part of the Global Trade Leadership Team. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the GTP and its governance framework within the headquarters and corporate functions.
  • Providing guidance and promoting trade compliance across corporate functions.
  • Recruiting, managing, and developing Country Trade Compliance Officers (CTCOs) in Switzerland.
  • Advising stakeholders, including the Head of Trade Compliance & Security, on trade-related matters.
  • Co-leading or leading specialized advisory groups focused on export controls and sanctions.
  • Enhancing and refining trade policies and procedures.
  • Conducting training sessions for stakeholders on trade compliance.
  • Identifying opportunities for duty savings.
  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing improvement of global trade tools and automation.
  • Overseeing monthly KPI reporting, issue reporting, and annual risk assessments, while implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Assisting with internal and external trade audits.
  • Upholding Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions while supporting colleagues and the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Graduate or postgraduate degree in trade, law, economics, international relations, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Legal qualifications or background.
  • Required: Over 10 years of experience in export controls, sanctions compliance, and supply chain optimization in an in-house capacity.
  • Required: Specialized knowledge of export controls and/or sanctions.
  • Required: Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of additional European languages is advantageous.
  • Required: Current residence in Switzerland or the EU.
