Chemical Site Manager – Interim Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the facility adheres to the highest standards of Environmental, Health, and Safety, complying with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain management systems in accordance with certifications such as ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, and ISO45001, alongside global company standards.
  • Lead and nurture the site Operations Management Team to achieve performance targets across Quality, Environment, Health and Safety, Productivity, and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing performance in EHS, quality, delivery, and cost management.
  • Analyze operational activities to minimize costs and optimize the use of personnel and equipment.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with all internal stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, R&D, Finance, and HR.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports for supply chain management, highlighting KPI performance deviations and proposing corrective actions.
  • Develop an annual operations budget and quarterly forecasts, overseeing the execution of the expense budget.
  • Build business cases for capital expenditures and ensure timely and budget-compliant project implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with the European Supply Chain team and functional heads to optimize regional operations.
  • Implement regional and global initiatives, including best practices, quality projects, and EHS improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in plant, site, or production management with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Experience managing diverse and complex manufacturing processes.
  • Proven expertise in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement.
  • A strong commitment to quality, environmental, health, and safety performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of the chemical industry or similar manufacturing environments.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with the specific chemistry industry, including customers, competitors, and product lines.
  • Expertise in high-volume batch production lines.
  • Effective communication skills with leadership, direct reports, peers, and customers to achieve strategic goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with customers and team members.
  • Self-motivated and independent, with a clear understanding of business priorities.

Competencies:

  • Proven success in collaboration with sales teams in a similar managerial capacity.
  • Strong team player focused on achieving business objectives.
  • Proficient in business report writing and presentations in both Italian and English.
  • Willingness to travel as required for business needs.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Material Sciences.
