Contract Type: Consultant Level II

Division: Partner Engagement & PMO (TECE), Information Technology Division (TEC)

Location: Rome, Italy

Duration: 11 months

Background and Purpose of the Role:

The Technology Division (TEC) serves as the backbone of WFP, linking staff with beneficiaries, donors, and partners. The Business Relationship Management (BRM) team is essential for the digital transformation of WFP, collaborating across the organization to identify gaps, prioritize needs, and enhance operational impact through technology.

The Senior Business Engagement Consultant will manage the relationship between the Technology team and the Supply Chain and Emergency divisions, shaping their technology demands to foster an efficient organization. This role is crucial as WFP addresses corporate Assurance and the Supply Chain Division undertakes significant projects to enhance food distribution processes. Building trust with operational and executive contacts is key to ensuring project prioritization and scheduling. The consultant will report to the Chief of TECE with functional oversight from the Head of the Business Engagement Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and support activities for the Supply Chain and Emergency divisions.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of evolving business models aligned with technology investments.
  • Create a global overview of demands and field needs in Supply Chain to optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure alignment between business and TEC strategic directions.
  • Stay informed on technology trends and guide business strategies accordingly.
  • Monitor technology developments outside TEC to ensure compliance with software development frameworks.
  • Understand existing TEC solutions and communicate their value effectively.
  • Collaborate with other Business Engagement Managers for a cohesive approach across portfolios.

Expected Deliverables:

  • A comprehensive overview of supply chain needs and demands presented by the end of the contract.
  • Regular meetings between business and TEC senior leadership to foster partnership.
  • Scheduling of key development initiatives.
  • Mapping of high-level processes and associated technologies.
  • Clear understanding of interdependencies between assigned business areas.
  • Clarity on what it means to be 'digitally transformed' within assigned areas.
  • Effective collaboration within the BEM and TEC teams.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Education:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years in a supply chain role, general management, or project management. Experience in finance or technology is advantageous.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Innovative approach to enhancing internal and external knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Experience with SAP/ECC Finance modules and related financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and make sound business decisions.
  • Good understanding of technology.
  • Familiarity with UN system policies and regulations is a plus.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English, with intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
