Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Trim Materials Developer to join our Product Development team at Burberry. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for researching and developing trim materials for our ready-to-wear apparel, ensuring that they meet our design brief and collection guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery of trim materials.
  • Conduct seasonal research and development of new trim concepts, presenting them to designers for feedback and approval.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development and Design teams to agree and implement the trim development critical path, ensuring deadlines are met and development issues are resolved.
  • Order and deliver trims on time, to the quality standard, and within the cost price range, to achieve target margin.
  • Ensure functionality and consistency of trim materials, ensuring products are fit for purpose for the customer, brand, and business.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to develop collections for product testing to relevant standards.
  • Support production meetings and follow-ups at vendors, ensuring technical requirements are met for all prototypes and samples.
  • Ensure that Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is kept up-to-date with 100% accuracy at all times.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in partnership with Senior Designers, understanding and interpreting their creative aesthetic and design vision.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs, and leveraging relationships to meet demands.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of product cost, with the ability to manage within a budget.
  • Demonstrated expert technical product knowledge, including specifics on areas such as knit, construction, pattern cutting, fabric construction, raw material (woven and yarns), leather.
  • Experience working on-site with vendors and operational knowledge of factories.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with credibility, share information effectively, and work confidently with cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of fashion and products in relevant categories, including trends, markets, luxury consumers, and peer awareness.
  • Computer skills: PLM, Excel, InDesign.
