As a Payroll Manager at Marriott International, you will play a critical role in supporting the property by accurately processing payroll data, auditing payroll records, and maintaining files and records to produce accurate payroll period reports in accordance with hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all payroll policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of computer system and manual procedures used for payroll functions.
- Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment used for payroll functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding payroll records.
- Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms, and resource materials.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks according to department procedures.
- Enter new employee records in payroll system from information received from Human Resources, create a file, and include all designated forms and data.
- Review all P.A.F.'s for complete information and ensure accuracy of figures; resolve discrepancies with Human Resources.
- Delete terminated employees from payroll system after printing employee's final check with specified deductions.
- Enter authorized status changes (rate, job, exemptions, etc.) and terminations as received from Human Resources.
- Maintain vacation accrual and sick pay records and authorize requests when applicable and approved by Human Resources.
- Input payroll from weekly summaries and pay requests for balancing to each department's total.
- Input or update employee deductions (i.e. garnishments, advances, insurance, 401(k), etc.).
- Calculate tip allocations for all tipped employees.
- Process rate changes and transfers following hotel standards and files within one week of receipt.
- Back up transaction files and transmit by the time and date according to Finance procedures.
- Review payroll register form for accuracy.
- Copies/prints reports as directed and distributes to Human Resources, Assistant Director of Finance, and Director of Finance.
- Complete month-end payroll functions.
- Process authorized manual checks as needed, following manual check procedures.
- Maintain accurate record of all issued checks and ensure security of all unused checks.
- Process paycheck adjustments after reconciling discrepancies and posts adjustments in payroll system using designated code. Generate new check according to Finance procedures.
- Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting, payroll policies, and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
- Demonstrate self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
- Manage group or interpersonal conflict.
- Inform and/or update the executives, peers, and subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner.
- Manage time and possess organizational skills.
- Presents ideas, expectations, and information in a concise, organized manner.
- Use problem-solving methodology for decision making and follow-up.
- Makes calls if necessary.
- High school diploma or GED; 1 year experience in the finance and accounting or related professional area.
