POSITION SUMMARY
The Culinary Assistant is responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, which includes tasks such as portioning, chopping, and storing food items. This role involves washing and peeling fresh produce, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, as well as preparing and cooking dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
The Culinary Assistant will also prepare cold dishes and operate various kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Monitoring food quality during preparation and testing dishes to ensure they are cooked properly is essential. The role requires setting up and breaking down workstations, serving food in appropriate portions, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, including tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
Adherence to company policies and safety procedures is crucial. The Culinary Assistant must report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, complete safety training, and maintain a professional appearance. Effective communication with team members and the ability to foster positive working relationships are vital for achieving common goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Related Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a culinary environment.
Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.
License or Certification: None required.
