Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Facilities Technician to join our team. As a Critical Facilities Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our data center facilities, working closely with our electrical and mechanical engineers to maintain and repair critical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the completion of maintenance activities to the highest quality level, including planning, preparation, execution, and reporting.
- Ensure the full reliability of the infrastructures, with a focus on continuity of services, energy efficiency, and budgetary constraints.
- Use the Building Management System (BMS) and other available systems to monitor and maintain the facilities.
- Participate in the drafting of the preventive maintenance schedule and implement it in collaboration with service providers.
- Implement the site-specific crisis management plan and participate in tests and implementation exercises.
- Monitor the capacities of the infrastructure equipment and report back to the Site Manager.
- Anticipate the impact of future customer loads on the infrastructures and implement warning thresholds and technical solutions to reinforce them.
- Carry out infrastructure reinforcement analysis and participate in site construction phases, ensuring service continuity to customers.
- Actively contribute to improvement actions in the site Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
- Develop energy quality indicators and keep records.
- Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and adapt ad-hoc services.
- Manage services and suppliers, coordinating with the owner's technical and operational departments.
- Ensure the proper operation of the site's BMS with the assistance of the IT and Controls departments.
- Support and monitor maintenance service providers daily and keep up to date with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Participate in regular audits to assess the level of service continuity and analyze risks.
- Implement improvement plans arising from data center operation activities and observations.
- Technical training in one of the following fields: electricity, air conditioning, fire and physical safety, security, or centralized building management systems.
- Data Center experience, ideally in data center operations or similar mission-critical environments.
- Demonstrate knowledge in operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and testing critical electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, and building management/automation equipment.
- Technical versatility.
- Supervision of Level II, III, and IV maintenance work on the site infrastructure.
- Reactivation of circuit breakers in low-voltage electrical equipment.
- Supervision of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Good communication skills with third parties and internal customers.
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach and generate new ideas.
- Highly motivated at problem-solving.
- Attention to detail and a genuine commitment to following up on actions.
- Good writing skills.
- Everyday use of standard office equipment.
- Proven skills in the use of software, such as BMS, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, and MS Project.
- Candidates must possess reliable transportation for reporting to work for shifts or emergencies.
- Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes.
- English and Italian language minimum level B2.
