About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced European Vice President of Business Development to join our team at IRBM. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving the company's growth by developing and executing business development and go-to-market strategies to expand our European client base and enhance profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership
    • Identify key hubs for establishing and leading a European drug discovery business development team. Onboard candidates, provide best practice training, leadership, mentoring, professional guidance, and performance expectations to ensure success within IRBM.
    • Develop a continuous education and professional plan for each team member to ensure team success.
  • Strategy
    • Collaborate with the executive and scientific management team to define and implement the overall short- and long-term business development strategy, aligning it with the company's operational goals and vision.
    • Analyze, on an ongoing basis, drug discovery market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify potential business and scientific areas for growth.
    • Lead the development, growth, and achievement of strategic imperatives providing plans, targets, timelines, and resourcing requirements.
  • Business Opportunities
    • Define the European drug discovery go-to-market strategy.
    • Leverage industry and customer networks to build new/expand relationships.
    • Proactively seek out and identify potential clients and collaboration opportunities through market research, networking, and attending industry events.
    • Develop outreach material that highlights IRBM's high science and deep history. Define and articulate IRBM's value proposition to prospective clients with a focus on Europe.
    • Drive the sales process from opportunity to close on an individual basis. Support team members.
    • Nurture strong relationships to ensure client satisfaction.
    • Achieve personal designated yearly sales goals within the assigned geography.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with increasing responsibilities and working knowledge in drug discovery business development within the contract research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or academic technology transfer field.
  • Demonstrated track record of market awareness, developing strategic direction and plans for corporate promotion and client engagement with emphasis in European geographies.
  • Proven track record of successful team leadership and management of a sales team, with particular emphasis on remote and cross-functional locations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, time management, and presentation skills.
