Job Overview

The role of the Field Service Technician is essential for executing on-site engineering tasks, including repair, maintenance, and preventative service operations at various client locations. These locations may include secure facilities, financial institutions, governmental establishments, retail environments, and commercial properties. The successful candidate will exemplify outstanding customer service, committed to achieving a first-time-fix culture that enhances the customer experience with Gunnebo Entrance Control, fostering opportunities for repeat business.

This position does not carry budgetary responsibilities but includes oversight of van stock and inventory management, along with accurate reporting of activities and parts usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute field-based engineering tasks, including repair, maintenance, and preventative service operations at client sites, which may encompass secure facilities, financial institutions, government buildings, retail spaces, and commercial properties.
  • Maintain positive customer relations consistently, upholding a high standard of appearance and a customer-centric approach in all communications.
  • Approach daily challenges with an open mind, exploring all options to achieve the highest possible first-time-fix rate while minimizing the need for repeat visits.
  • Support the service team and other engineers to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Adhere to customer protocols to facilitate efficient job closure.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with the call desk and management team.
  • Complete all job-related documentation and administrative tasks (e.g., permits, timesheets, expense claims) punctually, including timely updates to the service ERP management systems.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies, equipment, and working practices necessary to support the business and its clients.
  • Participate in a call-out rota, providing support for out-of-hours site intervention requests as outlined in the job overview.
  • Travel regularly throughout Italy and potentially internationally.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset in personal work practices, seeking opportunities for professional development and making recommendations to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, making all parties aware of their responsibilities in these areas.
  • Exhibit a high degree of flexibility, undertaking additional duties for the company within the role holder's skill set and capabilities, which may include covering other regions.
  • Care for vehicles, tools, devices, and other entrusted equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Essential

· Extensive knowledge of electronic and electrical circuitry.

· Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams.

· Strong mechanical and hydraulic understanding.

· Familiarity with Excel, Word, and Outlook software.

· Willingness to undergo training on various new products.

· Experience working as a mobile engineer.

· Exceptional customer service skills with a solid understanding of commercial practices.

· Proficient IT skills and experience using PDA/smartphone software.

· Ability to manage changing priorities and perform well under pressure while maintaining a positive demeanor.

· A reliable and trusted team player.

· Excellent communication skills, capable of listening to and empathizing with customers while presenting a positive image of Gunnebo.

· Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of independently resolving issues by gathering all necessary information and consulting with experienced colleagues and suppliers as needed.

· Ability to deliver results, ensuring customer inquiries are resolved efficiently, prioritizing effectively, meeting deadlines, and using initiative to complete tasks.

· Valid driving license.

· Availability for regular national and international travel.

· Clean criminal record.

Desirable

· Experience in the Entrance Control industry or similar fields.

· Background in Entrance Control, Electro/Mechanical Field Service, CCTV, or Access Control.

· Formal training or instructional qualifications.

· Mechanical and electrical certifications.

· Knowledge of software programming.

· In-depth understanding of network/IP setup.
