Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Family Medical Leaves (FMLA) and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide education and guidance to employees and supervisors on disability plans, workers' compensation, and FMLA regulations.
  • Serve as the legal expert regarding disability plans and FMLA regulations.
  • Monitor and update HRIS systems to accurately reflect employee leave status.
  • Coordinate with Workers Compensation Claim Adjusters and Nurses to ensure timely claims handling and medical treatment.
  • Manage workers' compensation and disability cases to ensure proper case management and financial cost analysis.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with outside representatives/vendors to enhance role as principal contact.
  • Manage American with Disabilities Act (ADA) process, including engaging in the interactive process and reviewing medical documentation and accommodation requests.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing leaves, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong analysis and decision-making skills, with ability to communicate effectively and reduce legal and financial elements.
  • Strong facilitation and conflict management skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years managing leave programs in a higher education setting.
  • Project management skills.
  • Program automation.
